How this word actually lands

“Perks” is a normal British word, but it is informal. It is useful when talking casually about the attractive extras that come with a job: free food, flexible working, discounts, a company car or other benefits. In a formal document, however, “benefits” is usually safer. You might hear someone say, “The salary isn't amazing, but there are some good perks.” That sounds natural in conversation. In a job advertisement or HR document, “employee benefits” would sound more professional. So this is a register issue rather than an Indian-English error. If you use “perks” in a formal sentence, people will understand you, but the word gives the sentence a more conversational feel.
