Handover
Meaning
the process of passing responsibility for work to another person, often when leaving a role
हिंदी मेंकार्यभार सौंपना, हस्तांतरण
How this word actually lands
“Handover” is one of the words on this list that is already genuinely British workplace English. There is no need to replace it with a different expression simply to sound British. What matters more is understanding what British colleagues expect a good handover to contain. A handover normally gives the next person enough information to continue the work without repeatedly coming back to you. That can include outstanding tasks, deadlines, important contacts, documents and anything unusual that needs attention. “I'll prepare a handover before I leave” sounds completely natural. In this case, the lesson is useful precisely because Indian learners sometimes assume that every workplace word commonly used in India needs replacing. This one doesn't.
Example Sentences
“I've prepared detailed notes for the handover to my replacement.”
मैंने अपने उत्तराधिकारी को कार्यभार सौंपने के लिए विस्तृत नोट्स तैयार किए हैं।
⚠ Common Mistake
As a noun it's one word "handover"; as a verb phrase it stays two words ("hand over the documents").
